Legal Counsel Financial Markets - Digital Assets focus
Flow Traders is looking for a Legal Counsel with an interest in Digital Assets to join our Legal team in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate has a passion for Digital Assets, the Crypto Industry, Bitcoin ETFs and tokens and is driven to build up and maintain relationships, and eager to grow our legal capability in this area. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the digital asset ecosystem within a leading proprietary trading firm known for its entrepreneurial spirit and innovative culture.
Our Digital Assets business is growing and we need to strengthen and grow our legal capabilities. Although as a legal counsel, you will have a broad focus, we are looking for someone who is excited to be part of the forefront on liquidity provisioning in the Digital Assets space as well as supporting in strategic venture capital investment opportunities in the digital asset ecosystem, including venture firms, exchanges, custodians, lenders, and infrastructure providers. You will be instrumental in developing industry standards for the Digital Assets space.
What you will do
As a Legal Counsel at Flow Traders, you will be deeply embedded into the business. You will gain extensive knowledge of our core business by partnering with key business units in Trading and Technology.
- Negotiate / draft / review and advise on a wide variety of topics / legal agreements ranging from:
- Legal aspects regarding the onboarding of counterparties (terms of business and other documentation)
- Exchange membership and platform access documentation
- Issuer documentation such as authorized participant agreements, prospectuses and market making agreements
- Brokerage, clearing, ISDA, (reverse)give-up agreements and other types of financial and trading agreements
- Collaborate and build strong working relationships with Trading, Technology, Risk and Operations, Regulatory Compliance and business development departments
- Co-develop standard operating procedures, templates and policies for the Legal Department
What you need to succeed
- 3-7+ years of experience at a law firm or legal team of a bank / trading firm / investment firm
- Master degree in Law
- An entrepreneurial solution driven mindset
- Comprehensive understanding of the digital asset landscape
- Enthusiastic and capable of grasping the fundamentals of blockchain technologies, algorithmic trading, and liquidity provisioning
- Excellent attention to detail
- A proactive and flexible personality
- Proven analytical skills and the ability to translate between legal, commercial / technical implications quickly without being affected by (time) pressure
- Business-level proficiency in English
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Big plusses are knowledge:
- of the financial market ecosystem and the role of the various player in it (CCPs, various types of platforms, clearing and settlement process) in general; and
- of the ETP/ETF ecosystem
